Anna Zemánková

ANNA ZEMÁNKOVÁ

Olomouc, Moravia, 1908
Prague, Czechoslovakia, 1986

Anna Zemánková had loved drawing since she was a little girl, but family pressure forced her to abandon her passion to pursue a career as a dental technician. Having fallen into a deep depression in adulthood, she found in art a way to recover and to creatively free her unconscious dreamer, drawing flowers which she then embellished with various other shapes and colours. Her work features botanical images, almost always painted in a trance state at the first light of dawn.
