He studied art in Rome where he immediately aroused the interest of Topazia Alliata, who exhibited some of his works at the Galleria Trastevere gallery. From there, he embarked on a career that saw him take on increasing institutional responsibilities in the movement for the creation (or perhaps the renewal) of a strong Moroccan artistic identity, through support for traditional arts and the overcoming of colonialist culture.
