It was a series of works by the collective Claire Fontaine, which formed in Paris but operates in Palermo, that suggested to director Adriano Pedrosa the theme of this edition of the Art Biennale. The former Gaggiandre shipyards at the Arsenale will host a new large-scale installation featuring neon sculptures in various colours with the words ‘Foreigners Everywhere’ in fifty-three languages. By intervening in public spaces, especially with neon writing, Claire Fontaine focuses attention on aspects of the contemporary political and cultural system.
