Born during the Japanese occupation, Kim Yun Shin developed her creativity using the few materials that were available to her, creating drawings and objects with sticks, sorghum stems and melted wax. Over the course of her long career, she has constantly focused on the natural world, finding inspiration in it and examining themes such as growth, metamorphosis and balance in a practice of painting and sculpture that foregrounds organic materials and intuitive processes.
