A granddaughter of Andrés’, Rosa Elena Curruchich faced significant difficulties in establishing herself as a painter. Her social environment openly opposed women aspiring to a career in the arts, which led her – as she claimed – to prefer creating very small paintings only a few inches wide. She deeply regretted not having the opportunity to receive proper artistic training, and unfortunately, her true value was fully recognized only after her death.
