Galleria Ravagnan will take you on a journey using Attasit Pokpong’s art. Pokpong (b. 1977) is a Thai artist living and working in Bangkok and enjoying great renown in his country’s art scene. His first works are colourful, impressionist visual chronicles directly inspired by the urban visions of the incredibly busy streets of Bangkok or its flower market. Later, Pokpong began focusing on refined close-up portraits of Asian women, halfway between realism and pop culture, with the subjects picked mainly from his family members. The artist uses both oil and watercolour, and often employs contrasting light colours for faces, and dark hues for backgrounds. We will be looking at a surprising portrait gallery.
