The happy and carefree life of young student Jindřiška falls apart when she discovers that her father is drowning in debt. One morning, she wakes up to find the house filled with bailiffs, seizing everything and searching for her father. But they aren’t the only ones; debt collectors are also on his trail. Stunned by this new reality and with only her best friend by her side, Jindřiška must decide in a single day whether to try to help her father or save herself before it’s too late. Filmed in 2022 in the satellite suburbs of Prague, After Party is an autobiographical film in which the director condenses his own family saga into 24 hours, offering a portrait of a generation left to fend for itself but still capable of fighting back.
Vojtěch Strakatý, born in 1988, studied directing and screenwriting at FAMO in Písek. The screenplay for his debut film, After Party, won the Star of Tomorrow Award from the Film Foundation at the Karlovy Vary IFF in 2018. His second feature film, On the Other Side of Summer, shot in 2023, is currently in post-production.
