Ana is a young woman with a precarious life: a shared apartment, a job she dislikes, and friends who come and go. Óscar, in a more stable situation, is a doctor with good friends but remains attached to his ex. Both turn thirty on New Year’s Eve and, that night, as they welcome in 2016, they meet and fall in love. The series follows their love story over the crucial decade from thirty to forty, portraying a young couple navigating life through ten episodes, one New Year’s Eve at a time.

Madrid-born Rodrigo Sorogoyen, nephew of director Antonio Del Amo, is one of Spain’s most acclaimed filmmakers. This marks his third appearance at the Festival, following his debut in the Orizzonti section with Mother in 2019 – a powerful hybrid of drama and thriller, and a natural continuation of the Oscar-nominated short of 2017 – and his participation as a member of the international jury at Venice 79. In addition to Los años nuevos, Sorogoyen has created successful original series for Movistar Plus+, including Antidisturbios (2020) and Apagón (2022). His latest film, As Bestas (2022), has received numerous awards, including nine Goya Awards and the César Award for Best Foreign Film.
