With a series of public events scheduled in November, Personal Structures – Beyond Boundaries, the European Cultural Centre’s biennial exhibition, is coming to a close. The exhibition reflects on humanity’s ability to transcend the limits imposed by external circumstances.
Reflecting on the significant events of recent years, including the COVID-19 pandemic, global conflicts, and environmental crises, the biennial contemporary art exhibition Personal Structures, organized by the European Cultural Centre (ECC), welcomes visitors to the historic venues of Palazzo Bembo, Palazzo Mora, and the Marinaressa Gardens, embodying the resilience of the human spirit and the ability to transcend limits imposed by external circumstances. Founded in 2002 as a platform for artists from diverse backgrounds to share their work and ideas, Personal Structures has evolved into a format that values multiple approaches and artistic expressions, documenting the plurality of the contemporary art world. From Yoko Ono’s symbolic installations to the exploration of the body by Miles Greenberg and Hermann Nitsch, the exhibition delves into universal themes such as peace, identity, and the relationship between humans and new technologies. More than two hundred artists from fifty countries navigate the complex contemporary global landscape, offering insights that go beyond the conventional and opening pathways to new conversations that flow into a rich schedule of events.
