Television news programs love to dust off the expression “holiday gift rush.” We would like, at least in the case of Venice, for there to be a rush indeed, but on a vaporetto (water bus) to reach the island of Giudecca, where until December 21st, EMERGENCY has set up a temporary shop at its headquarters featuring handmade products from countries where the Association operates and is present, or from solidarity initiatives collaborating with the NGO.
From Christmas decorations to handmade sewn and embroidered accessories by Afghan women, from Christmas gift baskets to the association’s t-shirts signed by contemporary artists, from suzani — large hand-embroidered tribal textiles — to Herat glassware and sweet and savory baskets by Libero Mondo: these are just a few of the many unique and socially conscious offerings available.
Opening hours until December 21:
Thursday to Saturday: 12pm to 6pm
Also accessible during the week by ringing the doorbell between 9:30an and 12:30 pm or 2:30pm and 5:30pm.
