Since 2012, Venice International Art Week has been an international platform dedicated to the promotion and exploration of performance art. Focusing on the production and documentation of the ephemeral and immaterial, VestAndPage’s (Andrea Pagnes & Verena Stenke) project presents archives of seminal works alongside live performance programmes by emerging and established artists. Each edition focuses on a specific theme and format, as performance art is rooted in a strong sense of communal cultural, social or political urgency and stimulation. The theme of this year’s edition, Portals and Constellations, explores connection and social transformation through the metaphor of ‘portals’, doors to new possibilities, ways of being and inclusive futures.
The exhibition, presented by PAV Performance Art Video with the support of Perform Europe and thanks to the support of ECC Italy and We Exhibit, will feature a programme of powerful performances and, for the first time, the performative film STRATA by VestAndPage and their collective of international collaborators as an immersive, multi-channel video experience.
