TBA21–Academy presents an exhibition curated by Yina Jiménez Suriel, marking the culmination of the three-year program The Current IV: Caribbean (2023–2025). The exhibition features newly commissioned works by Nadia Huggins (Trinidad and Tobago) and Tessa Mars (Haiti), including site-specific installations and large-scale paintings displayed in the former Church of San Lorenzo. The show explores the potential of improvisation as an aesthetic strategy to transcend terrestrial and extractivist perspectives, expanding the imagination around life-support systems and questioning entrenched power dynamics. In parallel, the research room hosts Echoes of the Sanctuary, curated by Louise Carver, showcasing TBA21–Academy’s collaboration with Jamaica’s Alligator Head Foundation on marine conservation, integrating art, science, and community initiatives.
