Associazione Culturale Spiazzi looks like a crowded café hall ready to welcome the diverse participants of Festival Culturale Macchiato. Curated by Alfredo Martorelli and Adele Spinelli, the event sets out to wake up the city from winter slumber and encourage it to aggregate again the privileged instrument of art. The permanent exhibition comprises art by Martorelli himself, whose photography series Caffèmacchiato portraits the myriad faces of the most authentic Venice. Further on, collages by Leone Solia, Angela Benedetti’s photography, Nonno Burro’s canvases, more photography by Pietro Vettore, delicate paintings by Ugne· Gelgotaite, sculpture by Daniel Whitehead, and an original choral installation by, the Muro ondoso (lit. ‘wall of waves’), a collection of testimonies of random encounters between artists, curators, and public that reminds of the worldly atmosphere of a Venetian coffee house.
