The Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa presents a retrospective exhibition dedicated to Franco Renzulli (1945–2020), a prominent figure in the Venetian art scene of the late 20th century. Curated by Stefano Cecchetto in collaboration with Vera Polacek Renzulli, the exhibition features approximately 80 works that trace the artist’s career through paintings, drawings, sculptures, screen prints, notebooks, and his iconic Ferule – narrative objects that transform fragments of everyday news into art.
A dynamic and inquisitive traveler, Renzulli spent long periods in Africa, the United States, France, and Eastern Europe, forging lasting relationships and friendships with fellow artists and key figures of the international cultural scene. His journey was marked by a constant dialogue with the artistic and social context, fueling a pictorial research that seamlessly blends poetry and imagery into an intimate and profound narrative dimension.
Active in both Italy and abroad, he exhibited in cities such as Venice, Rome, Milan, New York, Prague, and Stockholm. Among the artists who shared his path were figures associated with the Casa dei Tre Oci studios, a space for encounters and experimentation that brought together significant Venetian and international artists.
The exhibition is held in conjunction with the publication of the artist’s catalogue raisonné, offering an opportunity to rediscover his work and his contribution to contemporary painting.
