Apparizioni. Il sogno dell’infinità examines the relationship between the visible and invisible, the finite and infinite, through the language of contemporary art. The exhibition delves into the concept of “apparition” in a dialogue that intertwines philosophy and poetry, drawing inspiration from the words of Georges Didi-Huberman. It questions the very nature of apparition, reflecting on the paradox that when something is revealed to the visible world, it simultaneously dissimulates.
Evoking Alda Merini’s thought, “beauty is nothing but the unveiling of a fallen darkness and the light that has emerged from it,” the exhibition invites the viewer to confront the complex issue of the perception of the artwork. The works on display do not immediately reveal themselves: they require time, imagination, and reflection, prompting the viewer to question not only what is seen, but how and why it is perceived in a particular way.
The nine artists involved – Giuseppe Adamo, Maurizio Donzelli, Serena Fineschi, Silvia Giordani, Aldo Grazzi, Olga Lepri, Giulio Malinverni, Laura Omacini, and Paolo Pretolani – offer a variety of artistic languages and techniques, examining the boundaries between presence and absence, reality and dream, light and shadow. Their works trace a journey that starts from the denied image and moves toward its subjective reconstruction, in a path where each viewer becomes the creator of their own personal and intimate apparition
