The Russian-Lithuanian pianist Lukas Geniušas, considered one of the most successful pianists on the world scene, is the protagonist of the concert included in the XXXVII Season of chamber and symphonic music of Mestre 2022/2023, in collaboration with the Friends of Music Association of Mestre . On the program 12 Studies op. 10 by Fryderyk Chopin and the first version of Sonata No. 1 in D minor op. 28 by Sergej Rachmaninov, whose 150th birth anniversary occurs. This last piece in the program is truly a precious and almost unknown gem. The Sonata no. 1, in fact, is usually only performed and recorded in the second edition, which contains some cuts and also changes significantly in terms of the form of the first movement. The version played for this concert is instead original and integral. Lukas Geniušas found his manuscript two years ago in a museum in Moscow and has since decided to make it his personal tribute to Rachmaninov for the 150th anniversary of his birth.
