“If Pink Floyd and Radiohead had had a child who was in touch with their feminine side, that would have been us.” Not a bad declaration of intent, to quote the words of Steve Hogarth, British singer and multi-instrumentalist since 1988, frontman of Marillion, protagonists of a weekend dedicated to them at Geox in Padua on 28 and 29 April. That same Hogarth who was able to collect a very heavy legacy, that of Fish – who from 1977 to 1988 made the commercial and musical fortunes of the Aylesbury band with his own magnetic and charismatic stage presence – who, with Marillion, released the twentieth album, An Hour Before It’s Dark, released in March 2022 for Intact Record: 7 tracks, 54 minutes and something progressive rock, which follow two years later With Friends at St David’s, complete recording of the concert held in Cardiff in November 2019 during the album promotional tour With Friends from the Orchestra. The Marillion Weekend is now a real brand exported all over the world, which arrives in Italy for the first time: the absolute protagonist is the biggest band of the second generation of prog-rock, which will meet fans from all over the world in two unpublished shows, two different shows, with completely different setlists. «The concert is my favorite aspect of my job – explains Hogarth -: the possibility of sharing a state of mind with those who understand my words and, consequently, me too, is shocking, even though they don’t know English. Fans are so attached to our music that before the concerts they read and deepen the words: few artists can boast such a personal relationship with their audience”.
