After moving to Toluca Valley with his mother and sister, Lucas finds a job at a hamburger joint. Despite being constantly exploited by his manager, he manages to find solace by spending his afternoons with his colleague Oscar, who is passionate about Japanese anime and manga. To break away from it all, Oscar decides to quit his job and embark on a journey, leaving his belongings to his friend. Among them, a camera that will allow him to capture the light of the world around him.
José Pablo Escamilla grew up in Lerma, an industrial area of Mexico that made him highly sensitive to injustices towards workers in those areas. He is the founder of Colmena, a film collective that experiments with collaborative forms of financing, production, and distribution of films. In 2021, he wrote and directed Mostro, a film that won the Best Production award at the Locarno Film Festival and the Best Iberoamerican Film award at the Málaga Spanish Film Festival
