A pivotal figure in the history of 20th century art, a passionate collector, discoverer and friend of artists, Marguerite Guggenheim was born on August 26 125 years ago, in 1898 in New York, better known as Peggy, a farsighted patron and philanthropist who left an indelible mark in the history of twentieth-century art. Saturday 26 August at 9 pm, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection celebrates the birthday of its founder, with the traditional concert, in the sculpture garden, reserved for members and supporters of the museum while seats last. The talented String Quartet of the Fondazione Accademia Teatro alla Scala will perform for the occasion and during the evening will perform compositions by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Dmitrij Dmitrievič Šostakovič.
