“An act of love towards life and a quest for a harmonious, evolutionary dimension of the world”. With these words, curator Marina Dacci describes artist Silvia Infranco’s latest project, Viridis. The essence of Infranco’s art identify in the relationship between time and memory, art and science, and in the connection between objective investigation on the natural world and ontological reflection of spiritual character.
The artist focuses the relationship between man and nature in the field of phytotherapy, highlighting its symbolism and its alchemy, which are typical of archaic healthcare. After broad, meticulous research on ancient manuscripts and books (herbariums and pharmacopoeia), Silvia Infranco created art that evoke continuity between a ‘magical’ past and technical-experimental modernity, suggesting new ways to interpret and reconcile two worlds that are only apparently distant.
