Perhaps it’s the energetic and syncopated rhythms often sustained by the clapping of hands, or maybe it’s the blue notes influencing harmonies and melodies, but Gospel songs seem perfect for capturing the warmth and celebration of the Christmas season. This is also the case in Venice, where powerful numbers and vibrant scenography, reminiscent of the famous musical “The Greatest Showman,” are presented by the Big Vocal Orchestra in the now-traditional Christmas concert at Teatro Goldoni. Conducted by the versatile Murano glass artist, Marco Toso Borella, the Big Vocal Orchestra is the largest ensemble in Italy and Europe, boasting over 200 members. Once again, this year, they have prepared an extraordinary show of voices, music, dance, and theater, enriched with dazzling light effects and breathtaking videos.
With “The Greatest Show,” the Big Vocal Orchestra brings a unique concert-performance to the stage, featuring songs that span various musical genres. From film soundtracks to famous musical pieces, spirituals to contemporary gospel, classical polyphony to international pop-rock masterpieces, and even classical works—all with original arrangements accompanied by intense theatrical readings, choreography, and special effects. It’s captivating, engaging, and joyful music, perfect for immersing yourself in the festive atmosphere.
The performances are scheduled for Saturday, December 9th, at 7.00 PM, and Sunday, December 10th, at 4.00 PM and 7.00 PM.
