Venice end of 1943. Engineer Renato Braschi, an exponent of the Partito d’Azione (Action Party), set up a group of Partisans who carry out acts of sabotage against the German occupiers. The group includes a professor, Boscovich, a clerk, Varino, and a boy from the people, Danilo. They are helped by a young priest, Father Carlo. Braschi is an inflexible man, determined to carry out his actions to the end, even when the city’s National Liberation Committee would be inclined towards caution and a suspension of attacks. At a certain point the group falls apart in his hands: Boscovich, overcome by moral scruples, shirks his next mission; Danilo, whose father has been arrested, has to go into hiding; Varino, after killing a Republican guard, is arrested and tortured.
Restoration by the Société Cinématographique Lyre of Paris, as part of the celebrations organised by the National Committee for the Centenary of the Birth of Gianfranco de Bosio.
Introduced by Stefano de Bosio, Maria Ida Biggi, Giuseppe Ghigi and Marco Borghi.
