The exhibition is divided into two sections: Collect and Translate. The first section presents, through filing cabinets and LED screens, one hundred digital reproductions of ancient paintings, mostly coming from the Comprehensive Collection of ancient Chinese Paintings. This collection is an impressive project that has gathered over 12,000 works from various institutions in China and around the world over almost twenty years. The second section features new works by seven Chinese artists which by overlapping with the reproductions from the Collection, create a harmonious interconnection between past and present. The layout in both sections is inspired by the Mnemosyne Atlas of the 20th-century German art historian Aby Warburg.
