Founded by South African photographer Adam Broomberg and Palestinian activist Issa Amro, Artists + Allies x Hebron places the photographs of Broomberg himself and Rafael Gonzalez at the center of this project for the Biennale Arte. The subjects of their shots are olive trees in Palestinian territory that have survived from a deforestation started in 1967 and which has seen more than 800,000 trees cut down, some of which were millennia-old. These trees become symbols of the identity, culture, and resistance of a people subdued to an increasingly devastating military oppression, today more than ever.
