Celebrating the rivalries and feats of the best-known Italian maritime republics, namely Venice, Amalfi, Genoa and Pisa: this is the purpose of the Palio of the Ancient Maritime Republics, the sporting event established in 1955 and which this year, for its 68th edition, returns to being disputed in the Venetian lagoon, thus taking a prominent place within the rich calendar of events of the Boat Show. Memory returns to the dominion over the sea and to the glorious centuries of the Serenissima with the Palio of the Ancient Maritime Republics, a challenge between Venice, Genoa, Amalfi and Pisa that brings back ancient rivalries and consolidated glories between the oars. Friday 2 June at 5 pm a dive into history with the procession in costume from Piazza San Marco along Riva degli Schiavoni to the Arsenale, Saturday 3 June at 6 pm the Regatta: 2000 meters – from the Gardens of Sant’Elena along the San Marco Basin , up to the finish line in front of the Basilica della Salute – of athletic strength, technical ability, seafaring tradition.
