When we say we lost contact with Nature, we are saying we lost contact with ourselves.” A quote of landscape photographer Andy Goldsworthy sounds like the leitmotiv of Still Life, the latest installation by Norwegian choreographer and filmmaker Alan Lucien Øyen. On July 23 and 24, dancers Daniel Proietto and Mirai Moriyama will perform in front of a painted landscape in a blend of modern western style and butoh, a contemporary Japanese dance. Still Life digs into the human mind to look for images that can visualize man’s relationship with himself, with other, and with nature. The stillness in the title acknowledges the cavalier attitude humans have towards the natural world, perturbed and destroyed by man-made catastrophes.
