Merulo, Andrea, and Giovanni Gabrieli represent not only the Venetian school, but the overall time period: the first featuring rich, virtuoso music, Andrea an artist able to elaborate on vintage themes, and nephew Giovanni a precious keeper of his relatives’ music.
