Michele Cossu with his brother Giuseppe are intent on grazing a flock. Three bandits who have stolen some pigs stop at the shepherd’s hut. Michele wants the three to leave as soon as possible, when a patrol of Carabinieri arrives and has a firefight with the bandits. A soldier is shot and loses his life. Michele flees so as not to be blamed as an accomplice of the three. An arrest warrant having been issued against him, he tries to reach an area with his flock where he hopes the law will not catch up with him, but on the way the sheep die. By now he has lost everything, he is faced with numerous debts and does not know how to resolve the difficult situation in which he finds himself.
