At Fenice Theatre, from September 18 to 23, Cinderella by Jean-Christophe Maillot comes to life, performed by the Ballets de Monte-Carlo. Premiered in 1999, the choreography marked a turning point in Monaco’s repertoire. Sergei Prokofiev’s music is played live by the theatre’s resident orchestra, with sets by Ernest Pignon-Ernest and costumes by Jérôme Kaplan. Maillot’s version reflects on grief and memory, portraying Cinderella as guided by her late mother’s spirit. Her bare foot symbolizes humble love and self-discovery in a world of artificial beauty.
