Appointments with great music continue in M9’s Cesare De Michelis Auditorium. On September 22, the Amici della Fenice Foundation and M9 – Museo del ‘900 will celebrate with an extraordinary concert the 40th anniversary of the Venice Prize, a national competition established in 1984 by the Amici della Fenice to promote young piano talent. The exceptional performer will be Maestro Elia Cecino, a previous winner of the Premio Venezia in 2019, with a repertoire ranging from the romanticism of Robert Schumann’s Symphonic Studies to Johannes Brahms’ Variations on a Theme of Schumann, Op. 9, to the last two movements of the suite Miroirs, Op. 43, which Maurice Ravel had dedicated to the members of the coterie of avant-garde artists Les Apaches. Premio Venezia The Premio Venezia, in these forty years, has consolidated itself as one of the most prestigious competitions on the national scene and as a point of reference for young pianists, gradually extending its reach from the Veneto, to the Triveneto, until in 1991 it became a national competition, open to pianists of all nationalities, within the age of 24, graduates of Italian Conservatories of Music or Istituti Musicali Pareggiati, with a minimum grade of 10 (old system diploma) or between 105 and 110 (Level I academic diploma).
