Casa dei Tre Oci, home of the Berggruen Institute Europe, has been chosen as the venue for the presentation of the exhibition catalogue Joseph Kosuth: The-exchange-value-of-language-has-fallen-to-zero. The book launch, featuring Christina Kennedy (Senior Curator and Head of Collections at IMMA), Lorenzo Marsili, and Mario Codognato, together with a series of critical reflections, takes place in a key exhibition space within Venice’s cultural landscape, which is currently hosting a selection of the artist’s seminal works from the 1960s and 1970s, alongside a new site-specific installation commissioned especially for the exhibition. Centered on Kosuth’s work, the event serves as an opportunity to explore the intersections of art, language, and philosophy. Enriching the discussion will be the participation of the theatre company Gare St Lazare Ireland (GSLI), with a particular focus on Samuel Beckett, an author to whom Joseph Kosuth has dedicated a number of works. The event is part of the wider context of the theatrical and performative adaptation of Beckett’s novel How It Is, currently being staged at Palazzo Diedo and presented by GSLI, a leading company renowned for its innovative approach to staging Beckett’s prose. The set design, created by artist Michael Craig-Martin, makes the production a unique interdisciplinary event. Free admission, subject to venue capacity.
