TBA21–Academy’s public program at Ocean Space aims to seek creative propositions for the most pressing issues facing the ocean today, in hopes of creating new transformative and participatory visions for the future. A rich program of performances, lectures, walks and culinary explorations is proposed at Ocean Space this year, deriving in part from the curatorial fellowship program The Current III Mediterraneans: Thus waves come in pairs (by Etel Adnan), 2021-2023, led by Barbara Casavecchia, as well as multiple collaborations. On Friday 9 June we are hosting a new appointment in collaboration with Coastal Imaginaries (Denmark Pavilion at the 2023 Architecture Biennale) of the public program On air, in the air with the screening of Helena Wittmann’s film Drift: through dreamlike sequences and images of poignant beauty , the film invites us to abandon ourselves to the ebb and flow of the sea and to find new ways of existing in its timeless rhythms. Drift is a poetic and sensory masterpiece, a celebration of the beauty and complexity of the natural world and a call to keep in mind our place within it.
