The winner of the 2023 Biennale College competition in the Authors section, Eliana Rotella presents Livido (lit. ‘bruise’), a visionary story based on Ovid’s myth of Echo and Narcissus and a reconstruction of sign and healing. “You know when you see you got bruised, but cannot remember how it happened?” – that’s where Rotella’s show begins. “The bruise in question is the clue for an act of refusal: the exploited body of the world seen via transformative action, a merry-go-round of re-elaboration that aims at the utopia of a rhizomatic collective, an original kind of humanism – thus ricci/forte in the motivation of the award – a bitter reflection on the egotism of modernity.”
