With Five Days in the Sun, Emanuel Gat returns to Venice with a new work set to Gustav Mahler’s Fifth Symphony, a landmark score poised between emotional intensity and formal tension. A choreographer whose language is marked by clarity and musical precision, Gat shapes the symphony’s five movements into five choreographic tableaux, unfolding a journey through contrasting yet interconnected dimensions of human experience.
The piece moves through darkness and light, gravity and release, introspection and outward energy, tracing an arc that touches on love, loss and transformation. The work also marks a new chapter for Emanuel Gat’s company, performed by an entirely renewed ensemble of twelve dancers from across the world, brought together to engage with a score of striking emotional and structural complexity.
