New collaboration for Erlend Apneseth Trio, one of Norway’s most innovative bands. Acclaimed koto player Karin Nakagawa adds a new layer of texture and melodic depth to the trio’s distinctive fusion of Norwegian folk, jazz and electronics. The expressiveness of the koto (a stringed musical instrument belonging to the zither family) is thus intertwined with the Hardanger violin and the band’s experimental sounds, creating an exciting cross-cultural dialogue that explores the similarities and contrasts between Scandinavian and Japanese musical traditions. A collaboration that promises to offer a new soundscape in which the rich resonance of the koto meets the intricate rhythms and improvisational spirit of the trio’s music.
