Stefano Fortin, the winner of the Under 40 Biennale College contest in the Authors section, is back on stage at Biennale with director Giorgina Pi to stage his show Cenere (lit. ‘ashes’). A graduate of the Teatro Stabile del Veneto academy, Fortin’s play is inspired by the story of Icelandic volcano Eyjafjöll, which erupted in 2010 and paralyzed Europe with the mass of cinders it shot into the atmosphere. A sense of smothering, loss, solitude permeates the show in all its runtime. Three different tableaux represent as many enunciations: a recalcitrant son that is being asked to breakfast by his parents, a police officer tasked with informing two parents their son died, and a victim talking about themselves and what happened to them.
