The concert series featuring students of the Benedetto Marcello Conservatory comes to a close with its final appointment in the Conservatory’s Concert Hall.
The evening’s programme moves across different repertoires and atmospheres, from Viennese Classicism to contemporary music, through Argentine tango and the vocal repertoire between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
The concert opens with Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s String Quartet No. 21 in D major, K. 575 “Prussian No. 1”, performed by the Mouse Quartet, formed by Laura Barasciutti and Alessia Comin on violin, Francesco Alfonso De Martino on viola and Matteo Pacchiega on cello. Composed in 1789, the quartet marks the beginning of Mozart’s final cycle of string quartets, distinguished by a refined balance between formal clarity, lyricism and dialogue among the instruments.
This is followed by Astor Piazzolla’s Histoire du Tango, performed by Nives Acquaviva on flute and Tancredi Triches on guitar. Through the four sections that make up the work – Bordel 1900, Café 1930, Nightclub 1960 and Concert d’Aujourd’hui – the Argentine composer traces the evolution of tango from its popular origins to its encounter with modern musical languages.
The second part of the concert is dedicated to the vocal repertoire, with works by Makiko Kinoshita, Riccardo Zandonai, Giacomo Puccini, Annie Fontana and Pietro Cimara, performed by soprano Nao Takeuchi with Andrea Marinelli on piano. A journey that brings together poetry, musical theatre and art song, exploring themes such as memory, hope, solitude and love.
