No other regatta, anywhere in the world, runs on top of such a fascinating background: the immeasurable beauty of the body of water right in front of Piazza San Marco, with the Basilica and the Doge’s Palace on one side, and San Giorgio Island on the other. The Veleziana, now at its 25th edition, is a regatta for expert sailors on a mixed track of lagoon and open sea waters, changes of current, troublesome wind, and all that entails. An appointment that strengthens a tradition as old as mankind.
