On April 30, the day on which International Jazz Day is celebrated, the guest of Candiani Groove is the French clarinetist Louis Sclavis, also virtuoso of bass clarinet and saxophone through which he distils to the public an original mix of jazz and traditional music from the countries more diverse. Always oriented towards new collaborations, in 2009 he founded the Eldorado Trio with Craig Taborn and Tom Rainey, then the Atlas Trio with guitarist Gilles Coronado and pianist Benjamin Moussay, creating a different type of instrumental mix that forced him to rethinking one’s own compositional ways, satiating an innate hunger to challenge oneself. He focuses precisely on this band, recording Silk and Salt Melodies in 2014, his last studio work up to this moment.
