The new edition of Candiani Groove, the event dedicated to international music organised by the Culture Sector of the Municipality of Venice in collaboration with Veneto Jazz, which will enliven the Candiani Cultural Centre with a programme of high artistic level, is about to start. The first event is scheduled for Sunday 26 January at 6.30 pm, when the Candiani Auditorium will light up with new and fascinating sounds thanks to the trio composed of Luciano Biondini (accordion), Michel Godard (tuba, serpentone, e-bass) and Lucas Niggli (drums, percussion). The trio represents a unique encounter between three musical cultures and artistic styles, combining Mediterranean tradition, experimental innovation and rhythmic virtuosity. The warm and passionate sounds of Italian accordion master Biondini intertwine with the French mastery of Godard, who explores ancient instruments such as the serpentone along with the tones of the tuba and e-bass. To complete the picture, the incisive and innovative rhythms of the Swiss Niggli, an internationally renowned drummer and percussionist.
The trio’s history stems from the collaboration between Biondini and Godard within Rabih Abou Khalil’s band, which led them to work on projects such as TubaTuba and with the likes of Ernst Reijseger. Later, their synergy was enriched with the arrival of Lucas Niggli, known for his creative approach to percussion instruments. Lucas Niggli, a leading drummer on the international scene, is also a prolific composer. In addition to this trio, he leads ensembles such as ZOOM and BIG ZOOM and collaborates with leading artists in projects such as the duo with Xu Fengxia, the trio with Barry Guy and Jacques Demierre and the percussion quartet Beat Bag Bohemia. This inaugural concert promises a musical experience of great intensity, in which passion, poetry, energy and experimentation come together in a sonic journey that will not fail to excite the audience.
