Pietro and Marcello Tonolo present their recent work Our family affair (Caligola Records 2021). Born in 1955 and 1959, both born in Mirano (Venice), jazz musicians who need no introduction, between the 1970s and 1980s they led the Jazz Studio, a well-known and active quartet in the Venetian area, but which he left record records of his music. In the following decades they both successfully pursued their professional paths, collaborating only rarely on common projects (this happened, for example, with Keptorchestra). They have therefore recorded many albums under their own name – Marcello especially for Caligola, Pietro with Egea and Parco della Musica, and also as a member of Paul Motian’s group – but with Our Family Affair, released in the summer of 2021 for Caligola, is the first time they co-sign one as co–leader. At their side we find on this occasion a young but already appreciated double bass player, Nicolò Masetto, and a veteran of Venetian jazz, the drummer Massimo Chiarella, both from Padua.
