A few weeks after the dramatic night of February 24, 2022, hundreds of Ukrainians barricaded themselves in the premises of the Mariupol theater, which was later bombed in the context of the Russian offensive in the country. Theater has often been considered a “refuge” and emancipatory art, a tool of reconciliation in post-conflict contexts, a container of stories that tell resistance and resilience. In this perspective, the meeting Presences of peace in theaters of war is held. Alessandra Russo from the University of Trento will participate with a speech entitled The conventional war after the invisible war; and Bruna Bianchi of the Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, who will speak about the female and feminist protest in Russia against the war. The two interventions of a socio-political nature will alternate with a series of scenic readings by Monica Garavello and Carla Stella. Free admission subject to availability.
