A composer of a kind of music she calls ‘monochrome’ herself, Juste Janulyt pens scores of insinuating slowness, with layered threads going steadily forward, their rhythms unchanged, towards calmly mutating combinations of timbres and light. For Santa Ratniece, music is born out of a process where sound layers come one on top of the other to create an inner rhythm of incessant beatings, micro-vibrations that alter the perception of listening time.
