Sisters Nora and Agnes are reunited with their father Gustav, a charismatic and once-renowned film director. Gustav is working on a new movie that he hopes will make his comeback, and he offers a role to Nora, a stage actress. After she turns down the offer, Nora discovers that her father has cast an enthusiastic young Hollywood star in her place. The two sisters are forced to confront their difficult relationship with their father while dealing with the arrival of the American star.
