French company Stereoptik’s show is a fusion of cinema, painting, music, and audience participation. Antechamber’s subject is the story of a man who looks at a childhood picture of him, and because of that, he learns to play with fantasy again. We see him flying over the Amazon, diving into the deepest oceans, meeting legendary creatures, and even falling in love. The show is a journey into feelings and mind accompanied by projection art, music, and live drawing. A piece of paper, a charcoal pencil, a guitar: this might be all it takes to immerse ourselves into the act of creation, so often private and solitary. This multiform production is a step forward for Stereoptik.
The company, founded in 2008 by Romain Bermond and Jean-Baptiste Maillet, widened the scope of their artistic research by adding short film to their portfolio, produced using animation, stop-motion animation, painting, still life theatre, and music. Antechamber is the making-of of the movie and will allow us to step right into their creative process.
