For the first event of Extended, a performance programme curated by Ilaria Mancia, dancer and choreographer Ewa Dziarnowska presents This resting, patience, a three-hour durational performance that gradually dissolves the perception of time, opening a porous and sensitive dimension of experience.
The choreography unfolds as a process of continuous transformation, where dance intertwines attraction, repetition and feeling in a shared breath. The bodies offer themselves to the gaze as a living archive of unexpressed sensuality, shaped by subtle variations and an energy that emerges through duration.
The structure of the work is open: the audience is free to enter and leave at any time, to remain at the margins or move closer, observing the most delicate details – a tremor of the body, a flush on the skin. Proximity becomes an integral part of the experience, shortening the critical distance and immersing the viewer in the physical and sensual energy that unfolds in the space.
Conceived as an installation made of bodies, the performance takes the form of a living sculpture that shifts between moments of intensity and sudden revelations of fragility. The environment itself continuously changes, as light, distances and perspectives reshape the atmosphere and accompany the evolution of movement. Over the extended duration, what matters is less what happens than how it happens. Nudity, understood as a state of exposure and trust, becomes a delicate and conscious gesture that generates a sensuality without hierarchies, suspending conventions of the gaze and transforming the present into a time of attention, energy and tenderness.
Based in Berlin, Ewa Dziarnowska works in the field of performance and artistic research. Her recent projects – including A Room With a Better View and This resting, patience – reflect an ongoing investigation of improvisation as both method and philosophy. Through attention to sensation, rhythm and relation, she explores how movement can generate knowledge while resisting the pressures of coherence and productivity. Her work has been presented at numerous venues across Europe, including Sophiensaele, Schwere Reiter and Tanzquartier Wien, as well as festivals such as Santarcangelo Festival, Moving in November and What You See Festival. As a performer she has recently collaborated with Alex Baczyński-Jenkins, Michele Rizzo, Ofelia Jarl Ortega and Enad Marouf.
