An x-machine is a device, a machine for manipulating X-type objects. We always act within devices, we belong to them. A device is a relationship of forces, of knowledge and powers, a skein of lines that tangle and fracture.
The sum total of human actions has so profoundly influenced the earth’s environment that over the years it has created a veritable stratification, defined by some as the Anthropocene, a human-generated macro-device that eludes its own claim to control. Is it possible to escape established power relations or constituted knowledge?
This is the reflection proposed by the Teatro dei Servi Disobbedienti of Bologna, host of the Venice Open Stage with the show X Machine, directed by Federica Amatuccio, who also takes care of the scenography, with Federica Furlani, Jacopo Giacomoni, Andrea Gianessi, and Marco Puzzello.
