Anne Leith’s practice is dedicated to portraying the world around her, her gestural brushstrokes revealing the swiftness of her gaze and her passion for the present moment. Arranged with clothespins on hanging lines just like the laundry in the streets of Castello, her paintings and work on paper are inspired by the poetics of the woods: Leith captures the fleeting light reflecting on water, filtering through branches and vibrating among waterfalls, clouds and streams. She works with gold and silver leaf on mulberry paper to create a series of translucent paintings.
