Artist Armando Marrocco is back in Venice for a new exhibition. A collection of artworks from the late 1960s, picked by curators Michela Luce and Toti Carpentieri, will show the effect that the bustling metropolis of Milan had on the-twenty-year-old Marrocco as well as investigate how in those years, artists of different provenances converged on the same sea – the Adriatic, which touches both Venice and Marrocco’s native Apulia. Instinctive, though never random, this continuum feels like a journey of ideas, from mind to canvas. Between Fontana’s philosophical investigation of what lies beyond the painting surface and Bacci’s, De Luigi’s phenomenology of space and colour, lies Marrocco’s cosmography: a trace, an imprint of a past that lives on.
