Starting from seventeen pieces donated by Gemma De Angelis Testa, this major retrospective reveals previously unseen aspects of the inexhaustible experimentation and production of Armando Testa (1917–1992), one of the protagonists of contemporary visual culture and creator of famous icons which have inhabited the collective imagination for decades. Experimentation with a range of languages, visual and otherwise, over the course of his more than thirty-year career characterized the modernity of Testa, who aesthetics scholar Gillo Dorfles has called a “global visualizer.”
